The Oldham County Sheriff’s Office conducts weekly Safety Presentations in the community, including schools, distributing free educational materials such as “Safety Pup” stranger danger, internet safety, drug and alcohol awareness, gun safety, bullying, and domestic violence, just to name a few. These materials are distributed with a question/answer program with a County Deputy.
The OCSO has further partnered with the Latino community and has sponsored several Safety Programs where all materials are distributed in Spanish, as well as having a bi-lingual person on site to assist with questions. This has been greatly successful, and requests for more of the programs come in daily. The OCSO has also participated in a weekly radio show called “Justice for All”. The Sheriff’s Office also conducts block watch programs, including an email notification system where the Sheriff’s Office alerts neighborhoods to scam alerts from the Better Business Bureau. Deputies distribute crime prevention materials, as well as free home and business security inspections.
