A LETTER FROM THE OLDHAM COUNTY SHERIFF
Dear Oldham County citizens,
I began my career serving the citizens of this community in 1990 and spent most of that time working at the Oldham County Police Department. In 2015, I decided the time was right to pursue some dreams, and I retired from the agency. While I thoroughly enjoyed my retirement, I always knew in my heart that I was not finished serving the people of Oldham County. This is home, and counting my grandchildren, it has been home for nine generations of my family. I have dedicated a majority of my life to serving you, the residents of this county, and I will continue to do so as your Sheriff.
As the chief law enforcement officer in Oldham County, I want our residents and visitors to feel safe not only in their own neighborhoods but in every area of the county. The only way to achieve this is to collaborate with every aspect of the county. This must include cities, local government, police departments, businesses, neighborhoods, civic groups, schools, teachers.
It is truly an honor to serve you and lead the men and woman who serve this community as members of the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office.
Sincerely,
Timothy R. Wakefield
Oldham County Sheriff

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Subject: Scam Warrant Phone Calls
Residents of Oldham County are again receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be Lt. Jason Allen among other aliases, with the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division, stating that they have an outstanding warrant, usually for missing jury duty.
The scammer claims there is an outstanding warrant and if the resident being called will deposit hundreds of dollars onto a pre-paid card, purchased at a local store, and provide that information to the caller, the warrant will be recalled, avoiding arrest.
This is the same type of scam that occurs throughout the year, where residents receive phone calls from an individual claiming to be a deputy sheriff with the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office.
THESE PHONE CALLS ARE SCAMS. The Oldham County Sheriff’s Office or any law enforcement agency, including the IRS will never call by phone and ask for money to be transferred via a pre-paid or credit card, or any other means by phone.
Citizens are reminded to never deposit or wire money in this manner to anyone claiming to be law enforcement or otherwise. Personal or financial information should also never be given over the phone or internet.
Any contact with these individuals should be avoided and reported to Oldham County Dispatch at (502) 222-0111. Questions may also be directed to the Better Business Bureau at (502) 583-6546 or BBB.org and the Kentucky Attorney General at https://ag.ky.gov/consumer-protection/complaints.
